Before you start
Every checklist starts with the same handful of citations — Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yell, Trustpilot. Claim these even if you never touch the rest.
Don't submit to 30 directories in one day — it looks like a link scheme. Aim for 3-5 submissions per week over 6-8 weeks.
Never buy 'backlink packages', PBN links, or 'guaranteed DA80+ links' on Fiverr. These will get you a Google manual penalty. There are no shortcuts.
The highest-value backlinks come from: (1) being quoted in editorial articles, (2) publishing original research or data, (3) building free tools others link to, (4) sponsoring local events or charities, (5) genuine partnerships with non-competing businesses in adjacent sectors.
